Inserting a banner in article content

Post by westlake » Sat Jan 25, 2014 5:20 am

I have Flexbanner working great when the position specified is one of the positions identified by the template. I can't get a banner to appear in the content part of an article.

* I have specified the location in FlexBanner by the client name (ie "Client")

* I have set up the other aspects (categories, clients and links) of the banner exactly the same as the other banners

* In the article where the banner is to appear, i typed {loadposition Client}

* In the edit banner I
- specified the location as "Client"
- set "restrict by ID" to "yes" and specified the page - no banner resulted
- set "restrict by ID" to "no" - no banner resulted

What do I need to do? All help much appreciated

FlexBanner does not have a facility to show banners in the body of an article. It uses a module to display the banner on the same page with the article. If you want the banner to appear within the body of an article you need to use a plugin to show the module in the article (Joomla 2.5 and 3 have this facility).

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll look for another solution for the in-article need.

New problem: I attempted to update FlexBanner using the update function in the control panel. I got the error message in the attached image, and now when I try to access the Flexbanner component, I get

Warning: require_once(/home/skate094/public_html/administrator/components/com_flexbanners/liveupdate/liveupdate.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/skate094/public_html/administrator/components/com_flexbanners/flexbanners.php on line 9

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/skate094/public_html/administrator/components/com_flexbanners/liveupdate/liveupdate.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/skate094/public_html/administrator/components/com_flexbanners/flexbanners.php on line 9

The banners are still appearing as before

I realize this is not a FlexBanner issue, but if you can point me to a solutipn it would be much appreciated. I'm not a coder so the error message mens nothing to me

The point of that package is it doesn't contain the update to those tables so I suspect you are using a cached copy.

I'm not sure what to do next as I don't understand how I could be installing a cached copy.My Joomla site cache is off.

Should I delete and reinstall? (I currently have FlexBanners 2.0.29). If so, is there a file that I can access the hit and click stats from so I don't lose them?

Thanks for the help :-)

Could you try deleting the contents of your tmp directory and then try using that install package again.

Okay, can you delete the contents of /administrator/com_flexbanners and then try again. You won't lose any data.
