More flash banners on one page

Post by FilEx » Mon Feb 16, 2009 2:48 pm

Hi all,

I have copied MOD three times and set three different locations so I'm
able to publish on the homepage more flash together with bitmap image adverts..

The problem is only one flash banner is shown at a time..If I reload the
page sometimes the second flash appears, but the first dissapears..
JPG picture in the third position is shown everytime..

You can take a look at: www.pruvodce.cz

The home page should appear as follows:
top-flash banner, side-flash (should randomly switch with jpg, but blank is shown most of reloads), down - jpg picture

I have left other parameters as date to 0 and page filter to no...

I noticed FlexBanner converts flash to animated gif which I don't mind of course..

Thank you for any lead...

Filip

I'm not surprised it doesn't show multiple flash banners. Can you see if it works with one flash banner and 2 ordinary banners?

FlexBanner does not convert flash banners to animated gif.To be honest, flash is a very poor solution to use on a web site so unless you have no choice you should try and change.

Hello Andrew,

it works perfectly with two ordinary and one flash, but it doesn't solve my problem..

I have to offer more flash on one page because unfortunately most people work
with this technology..:(

Do you see any chance for solution, why is it possible that iframe with flash
can be shown only one per page..? If I try another component for joomla together
with yours I'm able to display two so why would it be impossible for your component ?

Thank you in advance for any further help...

Hello,

one more discovery I have made..

If I leave the settings to two flash and one ordinary it depends also on
page reloads thoch is strange...sometimes it shows up correctly (2 flash)..
sometimes only one of them...

I have turned cache temporarily off...

Best Regards..

This is because my solution solves the problem that most don't - it actually records the clicks for the banner (it would be easy to do without that issue and wouldn't need the iframe).

I will see if I can make it replicable but, considering how hard it was to get it working at all, I wouldn't hold you breath.

Still, look on the bright side. Flash is becoming increasingly obsolete. After years there still isn't a 64 bit version (do you really want a solution where a group of viewers with 64 bit browsers just get a blank?) and the replacement is years late.

I've just tried it and it works fine with multiple Flash banners.

I can only think you have an issue with CSS formatting.

Hello Andrew,

after couple of days testing other changes I have come to conclusion that flash is probably not the issue, because the behaviour is strange and differs on every reload of the page..(or click in the main menu) Sometimes it loads all three positions fine, after reload only one with bitmap banner, sometimes two..

I can't think of the reason whay it behaves so strange...

Can I ask you for a favour, could you spend one minute clicking on my site:
www.pruvodce.cz and see the issue for your self if something comes to your mind ?

Thank you in advance..

I can't say for sure but it looks to me as if some of your banners are not correctly defined in the component (height and width). If you set them up under an earlier version of the component this can happen. I would suggest uninstalling the component completely, then install the latest version from scratch and step by step set up the banners again.

Alternatively, if you are good with mySQL, you could check the entries in the database and add the sizes.

ok, I will try it..Are we talking about sizes of the banners or types of sizes like Skyscraper ?
Must the dimensions of the banner exactly match the size ? One of the bitmap banners appears stretched now which is ok but I don't know about the flash banners if the exact size is important..

Thank you

I'm talking about the size of the banners. But yes it is important that the banner is the same size as the type. If there isn't a size type that is correct you can add a new one.
